I am getting the Not Authenticated message.

This issue is related to your iCloud configurations, looks like you have denied access to iCloud Drive or you don’t have an active iCloud account on your device.

Authenticator needs access to your iCloud account and iCloud Drive to restore, synchronize and back up your accounts. All your data are protected with strong encryption while in iCloud.

You can enable the iCloud Drive on your Mac by following these steps:

  1. Go to Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Apple ID.
  2. Select iCloud.
  3. Sign in with your Apple ID, if you need to.
  4. Select iCloud Drive. turn on icloud drive on imac

  5. Press Options. turn on icloud drive info

  6. Select Authenticator. enable icloud drive for authenticator app
