What is my profile QR code in the Authenticator App?

Your profile QR code is used when someone wants to add you to a shared group in the Authenticator App.

When someone wants to invite you to a shared group, they can scan this QR code to add you quickly and securely. This helps avoid mistakes and makes it easier to share access with family members or team members.

Each vault in the Authenticator App has its own unique profile QR code. The code is linked to the vault you are currently using. If you are invited to a shared group using that code, you will only be able to access that group from the same vault.

The QR code is also connected to your shared profile in the app. The name shown in your Profile is the name other members will see in shared groups. You can update it at any time from your profile settings.

To use shared groups, make sure Synchronization is turned on and that the Authenticator App has access to your iCloud account. You can only add members to a group, or be added to one, once both are set up.

You can use the QR code in two ways:

  • Show it in person so someone nearby can scan it while adding you to a group.

  • Share it as a screenshot if the person adding you to a group is not near you.

Important: This QR code contains your secure profile connection information and is tied to your current vault. Only share it with people you trust.
